Chong, O.D. is a family owned primary optometric practice in San Francisco’s North Beach. Since 1936, we have been providing healthcare and serving the San Francisco Bay Area longer than Walgreens. With a friendly, multilingual staff, we look forward to treating you with respect, care, and a vision. We are open:

Monday-Friday: 9am-1pm and 2pm-5:30pm

Saturday: 9am-12noon and 1pm-4pm

Sunday: Closed

Richard J. Chong, O.D.

Dr. Richard Chong, a native San Franciscan, earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry.  A former President and Board Member of the San Francisco Optometric Society, he is an active member of the California Optometric Association, American Optometric Society and the Asian Optometric Study Group. Dr. Chong is an alumnus of Lowell High School. His vision for eye care is treating patients with professional care and respect.

Thank you for your interest and for visiting our webpage. I'm a native San Franciscan. I'm a graduate of Lowell High School. I received my Bachelor's of Science from U.C. Davis and my Doctor of Optometry at U.C. Berkeley. I love spending time with my wife and two kids. I enjoy traveling and am an avid photographer. I also enjoy bicycling and golf when I get the chance. I have been with the office since 1993 and practicing since 2004. I hope you will find the office and the neighborhood to be as special and charming as I have.
